Tännforsen is one of Sweden's largest waterfalls. The total drop is 38 meters of which 32 meters are vertical. Together with the width of 60 meters, this gives a vertical droparea of 1920 square meters. It is the largest in Sweden.
The amount of water varies widely between seasons. In a normal year, the water flow reaches its peak during May-June, when 400 cubic meters of water rushes over the edge. The lowest flow is between December and February when the fall is covered by a beautiful coat of ice. The highest level measured during the 1900s is 740 cubic meters per second. It was during spring flood in 1995 and this amount would fill the Globe Arena in Stockholm in fifteen minutes.
None of these figures, however, surpasses the simple fact that Tännforsen is a very beautiful and powerful experience.
